Flatten a PDF — Lock Form Fields Into the Page
Flattening turns editable form fields and annotations into static page content. After flattening, recipients can still view the form — but they can't modify what you entered.
Useful for submitting finalized forms, contracts with filled details, and anything you want to preserve exactly as you filled it.
Open the editorHow it works
- Open wt-pdf.com and drop in the PDF.
- Fill in form fields if needed.
- Click Flatten in the toolbar.
- Download — fields are baked into the page content and can no longer be edited.
When to flatten
- Before emailing a signed/filled form to prevent accidental edits.
- When uploading a form to systems that only accept static PDFs.
- To reduce file size by stripping AcroForm metadata.
What flattening preserves
Visual appearance is preserved exactly. Field values, checkbox states, and signatures all become part of the page's drawn content.
FAQ
Can I un-flatten?
No. Flattening is one-way. Keep a copy before flattening if you might need to edit fields later.
Does it flatten annotations too?
Yes — highlights, underlines, and stamps are baked in.
Does it reduce file size?
