Bates Numbering for PDFs — Free Legal Discovery Tool

Bates numbering is the legal industry standard for marking documents in discovery: a prefix, a sequential number, and consistent placement across every page. WT-PDF stamps Bates numbers in seconds — at any position, with any prefix, with configurable padding.

Runs in your browser. No upload to any "cloud legal platform", no privilege risk.

Open the editor

How it works

  1. Open wt-pdf.com and drop in your PDF.
  2. Click the Bates button in the toolbar.
  3. Set the prefix (e.g., ABC), start number, padding (e.g., 6 digits → 000001), and position.
  4. Apply. Every page gets a stamp in the chosen corner.

Configurable format

Privilege-preserving workflow

Law firms often hesitate to use browser PDF tools for discovery because of confidentiality. WT-PDF runs entirely locally — DevTools → Network confirms zero outbound traffic during numbering.

FAQ

Can I resume numbering from a previous batch?

Yes — set the starting number to one past your last batch.

Can I number only certain pages?

Current UI numbers all pages. For ranges, split the PDF first and apply numbering to each part.

Is the numbering baked in?

Yes. It's drawn into the page content, not an annotation.
